They have to deal with huge chunks of disordered information which leads to inefficiency and inconsistency in work. This problem is solved by MySQL. Many users have experienced the problem of hierarchical data in a SQL and have learned from their experiences that the management of hierarchical data is not what a relational database is exactly needed for. The table of a relational database is not hierarchical like XML, but is simply a flat data list.
  Before you learn about MySQL, you must acquire a certain knowledge about databases which is important for building your basics. A database is of two types: a flat database and a relational database. A flat data base is similar to many things of different types just put together randomly. There is no proper arrangement for proving a correlation between parts of the information. A relational database is much more oriented to the human mind and is often preferred over the flat database. MySQL is a relational database system in the sense that there exists a correlation between every chunk of information stored in the database.

A table's columns define what kind of information is going to be stored. You need an individual column for each type of information you wish to store and the row is the entry of the data or the input data. The use of such data tables are important to handle large information and put them into or arrange them into logical categories.  
  Similarly, MySQL is a sort of database. It is used to store, sort, arrange, and display information in an easy form without any hassles. MySQL is a fully functional element on its own right. MySQL is a simple data storage area which contains small sections called tables which consists of rows, columns, and cells. The MySQL environment, if loaded into your windows also allows the building of tables, indexes, supports standard data types, and allows for database reproduction and duplication, among other tasks.  
  Before going deeper into the MySQL language, one most important aspect of this language that you should be aware of is how MySQL gathers its data and keeps up its security and integrity at the same time. This is done with the help of MySQL privilege tables. The MySQL privilege tables are wholly responsible for allowing a user to gain access to the main MySQL server, and then subsequently allowing these users who have gained entry into the MySQL database a set of privileges. This privilege set decides what each user who is connected to the MySQL database can do, while this set also puts a check on the user's activity in general like the user's activities on a server-wide, database, tabular and even columnar level. There may be different levels of freedom given to the users. Like for example, an administrator could grant an user only enough privileges to connect to just one specific MySQL database, and restrict access to all other users. Furthermore, at the same time that same user might be granted only certain privileges while connected to that MySQL database, like the selection, insertion, and modification privileges, for example.

If you are using Microsoft IIS at your end, then too MySQL works in proper co-ordination with the ASP pages. In fact, if your ASP code is ANSI SQL-compliant, you may be able to simply plug and start a MySQL server into your production environment very easily!  
  Along the lines in which the Linux OS was released, MySQL is also a free software which can be taken from the net free of cost. In most cases, you can download, install and work with MySQL without paying a cent. There are some exceptions for those who create software built upon MySQL for resale.
